Zahra Afrasiabi

Dr. Zahra Afrasiabi is an Associate Professor at Lincoln University. She is an adjunct faculty at Missouri University of Science and Technology as well as University of Missouri-Columbia. Her research focuses on design and fabrication of nano-biosensors for detection of biomolecules, drug designing, and environmental chemistry. In 2003 she graduated from University of Missouri-Rolla in bio-inorganic field with extensive study in design and synthesis of metal complexes with potential antitumor properties. She has been awarded several research and teaching grants from USDA, NIH, and NASA on “gold nanoparticle-based nanosensors for detection of biomolecules”, “gold nanoparticle-based nanosensor for accurate detection of luteinizing hormone in small ruminants”, “biological activity of quinones”, “purification of waste-water from research facilities using palladium nanoparticles”, “silver nanoparticles as pesticides” and“a practical approach to integrate nanotechnology education into agriculture and environmental science curriculum”
